Alterra Bioenergy has two plants under construction in Georgia. The first one, in Gordon, was announced in late 2006. The Gordon plant plans to employ about 25 people in producing 6 million gallons of biodiesel annually and distributing about 30 million gallons of blended fuel. The second plant in Plains began groundbreaking in late February, 2007 and will produce 30 million gallons of biodiesel a year using soybeans and canola as the primary feedstocks.
