As a response to both need and opportunity, MRP convened and facilitates the Farm Energy Partners Network (FEPN). The FEPN coordinates the programs of agricultural, energy, environmental and business support interests to leverage our collective ability to achieve energy efficiencies and pursue on-farm renewable energy technologies. With
support of the USDA Risk Management Agency, the FEPN is strengthening its capacity to serve the farm community.

NorthEast Biogas is a developer of biogas projects which help the agricultural and industrial sectors to generate new revenue streams from the professional management of organic waste streams. NorthEast Biogas provides proven, state of the art, modular, biogas technology systems from leading European manufacturers, and a full array of support services including project management, turnkey solutions and ongoing operation and maintenance services.
The AgSTAR Program is a voluntary effort jointly sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Energy. The program encourages the use of methane recovery (biogas) technologies at the confined animal feeding operations that manage manure as liquids or slurries. These technologies reduce methane emissions while achieving other environmental benefits.
The production of biologically-based energy is gaining ground as means of reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Biogas recovery for methane is a very sensible approach to processing organic waste and has advantages over pure landfilling, lagooning and also over composting alone. Landfilling largely wastes organic carbon removing it from nature's cycle altogether. Lagooning release huge amounts of methane. Composting consumes large amounts of fossil-energy while releasing huge quantities of carbon-neutral CO2 at the expense of a positive energy-index. Combinations of biogas-recovery with these technologies makes up for some if not most of these deficiences.
AgMatters’ (AM) mission is to provide information and services for Maine farmers to help them increase the productivity, quality, and profitability of their farm operations. By
helping to improve farm operations, we will enhance the quality of life for farm families, the communities in which they operate, and the environment of the State of Maine--and we have fun doing it!
AM’s intent is to acquire the necessary training to assist Maine farmers with energy audits to advance their on farm initiatives and projects. AM has experience in assisting farmers with permit applications in other aspects of Maine agriculture.
Efficiency Maine is a statewide effort to promote the more efficient use of electricity, help Maine residents and businesses reduce energy costs, and improve Maine's environment. Efficiency Maine is funded by electricity consumers and administered by the Maine Public Utilities Commission.
The Efficiency Maine Business Program provides cash incentives and free, independent technical advice to help businesses save energy and money and improve the environment.
