General Description: A small CSA on 30 acres in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park near Peninsula, Ohio halfway in-between and convenient to both Cleveland and Akron. In 2009 our 40 member CSA provided food to over 60 families; in 2010 we plan to increase the size of our CSA and add other sales outlets (market & road side stand).

Our farm is set near the southern edge of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and is located on and surrounded by National Park land. As one of a handful of farms in the Cuyahoga Valley Countryside Conservancy program, we can provide the unique opportunity of an agricultural internship inside a national park with access to park amenities, including miles of hiking trails. We are not certified organic, but we practice sustainable agriculture.

Internship Details: We are looking for an individual who is passionate about food and growing. Interns will be asked to work around 40 hours a week on a schedule determined by weather and the needs of the farm. Duties will include, but are not limited to, starting seeds, caring for seedlings, transplanting, bed preparation, cultivating, irrigation, harvesting, processing, CSA-pick up duties, general farm work, and computer tasks. Our goal is to give our apprentices a full view of what it takes to run a small farm, what can go wrong, and what you can do to help things go right. We are looking for interns who are willing and eager to work and are self motivated. We are looking for those looking for an opportunity to be involved in every aspect of running a small farm. We are eager to teach and excited for the opportunity to learn together.
