Wisconsin Farm Anaerobic Digester Grant

A Farm Anaerobic Digester Implementation Grant provides financial support for the installation of a commercially available anaerobic digester system at a Wisconsin farm to produce any of the following forms of energy: electricity, thermal energy and biogas. On a competitive basis, a maximum grant of $250,000 will be available through Wisconsin Focus on Energy to provide financial support for the installation of anaerobic digester systems at eligible farms. These grants are for systems that generally cost $2 million or less. Applications are reviewed monthly.




Rhode Island Renewable Energy Fund

In November 2008, the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation announced its plans to manage the state’s Renewable Energy Fund (REF), making a new commitment to stimulate job growth in green technology/green energy sectors of Rhode Island’s economy. The fund is managed by the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation and provides grants, loans and other financing for renewable energy projects that produce electricity in a cleaner, more sustainable manner and stimulate job growth in Rhode Island’s economy. Projects are reviewed on a rolling basis.




Blue Moon Fund

Blue moon fund seeks to improve the human condition by changing the relationship between human consumption and the natural world. Specifically, it supports new economic, cultural, and environmental approaches to resource use, energy use and urban development. Blue moon fund makes grants to nonprofit organizations that have developed innovative, holistic approaches to improving human quality of life in harmony with the natural world. Letters of inquiry are considered on a rolling basis.




Long Island Backyard Wind Power Program

Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) has announced the creation of a Backyard Wind initiative for customers in 2009. The new program will provide rebates to homeowners, businesses, municipalities, and nonprofits seeking to harness power from the wind through the use of land-based wind turbines. New commercial installations for 2009 will be rebated at the lesser of $3.50 per kWh for the first 16,000 kWh and $0.50 per kWh thereafter up to a maximum of 175,200 kWh or 60% of the total installed cost.




Maryland Bioheat Tax Credit Program

Bioheat is a domestically produced, renewable fuel that can be manufactured from vegetable oils, animal fats, or recycled restaurant greases. In 2007 Maryland passed a Bio-Heating Oil Tax Credit. The statute provides for a $0.03/gallon tax credit up to $500 for individuals and corporations that purchase Bio-Heating Oil for the purpose of space and water heating. The statute defines Bio-Heating oil as at least 5% biodiesel. Program applications are available online.
