General Description: Harmony Ridge Farms is a diversified family farm set in the rolling hills of Tobaccoville, NC, near Winston-Salem. We strive to increase local and regional access to high-quality fresh and natural produce, meat and eggs. We raise all farm products sustainably, without the use of chemicals. 2019 is our tenth year in production. We also distribute other produce raised by partner farms to restaurants. We market our products through our Spring/Summer CSA, farmer's markets and restaurants.

Meals: We generously share farm fresh food (free produce and eggs - meats discounted) with employees. Lunches are generally not provided, however 1 hour lunch breaks are provided.

Skills Desired: The ideal candidate has a passion for gardening and/or team outdoor pursuits, is in physically fit condition and maintains a willingness to work sometimes long hours (40-45 hours per week over five days). Our ideal candidate is a self starter and carries out to the absolute best of their ability the demanding array of tasks that raising sustainable and organic food requires. Our candidate has a positive attitude, and interacts with co-workers, managers and customers in a highly respectful manner. The ideal candidate is drug-free. Finally, the candidate should enjoy working in the outdoors with a team to achieve goals day in and day out.

Educational Opportunities: Hands-on produce and meat/egg production experience on a fast-growing and fast-paced sustainable farm. Likely will have an opportunity for farmer's market sales.

Stipend: Monthly stipend $1100 for full time - 5 days per week.

Housing: We no longer provide housing.

Internship Details: The work will include field preparation, cultivation, planting, harvest, preparing/packing produce for sale and distribution, caring for animals, fencing, mucking, feeding/watering animals, gathering/washing/packing eggs and other duties as assigned. The position offered will be centered around produce (field production and packing) and will require limited hours spent completing chores related to our pasture-raised meat and egg operation. This is a 7-8 month duration internship (May through November or December). If you need to adjust schedule we are open to alternative time frames. In addition to monthly stipend we provide farm-fresh produce, eggs and discounted meats to employees. This is a full time internship -- work schedule is generally Tuesdays through Saturdays. This is a great opportunity to learn about organic farming for the right individual. The ideal candidate is a self starter, listens to and follows directions, is physically fit and has a can-do attitude. We work outdoors in all conditions - candidate must be willing to work through sometimes difficult conditions to get the job done.
