General Description: Middle aged couple in rural Pierce County are seeking help with Farm and Forestry chores. Lo Tahoma is very secluded and private, at 1,700'elevation with access to 1000's of acres right out the back door, we are an 18 acre Homestead of diverse land, just 4 miles from the NW entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park and 1/4 mile walk from our driveway to the Carbon River. Lo Tahoma includes 15 acres of Forest land with walking trails and seasonal stream, 3 acres of open space, including house, cottage, pasture, out-buildings, large vegetable garden, flowers, berries, Goats, Chickens and Bees all on a south facing slope. We mill our own lumber from trees off our property using a portable sawmill.

Meals: Although we will probably share several meals together, you will be responsible for your own meals. You will have free access to Fresh Eggs, Produce from the garden, Raspberries, Honey, homemade Yogurt & Granola.

Skills Desired: We are looking for a strong, competent and passionate person interested in working with us. Must be able to comfortably lift up to 40 lbs, must enjoy physical labor, sometimes challenging tasks in all kinds of weather, a wide variety of skills desired, mostly Farm, Forestry and Carpentry, Previous Experience Preferred, although attitude & desire outweighs experience. Must be able to enjoy your own company.

Educational Opportunities: Hands on experience in all aspects of living off the land.

Stipend: $400/Month to start. We can help with transportation if needed.

Housing: Private 1 room Cottage with Kitchenette and 3/4 Bath. Includes Mini-fridge, Microwave, Stove Top, Pots & Pans, Dishes, Silverware, Toaster, Blender, Linens & Towels. Queen Size Bed, Dresser, Table & Chairs.

Internship Details: We are seeking help with forest management practices, milling, trail maintenance, limbing, firewood, out-building construction, roofing, fencing, and other simple affairs of daily life; in exchange for a comfortable place to live, $400/Month stipend (to start), lots of free time and solitude. We have dreams of creating a sustainable eco-friendly, unplugged, host sight for a few guests in a couple campsites and sharing self-sustainable knowledge through small, intimate workshops in a forest setting. Your primary responsibilities would be helping us build/repair our infrastructure including building 600 feet of fence, deck repair, roof repair, and firewood. You would be expected to work 30 hours/week, 4- 7-8 hour days. Applicant must be in good physical condition, love being outdoors and able to make at least a 3-4 month commitment. Individual or couple O.K., ultimately we are looking for 1 to 2 individuals who would like to stay year round. *ONLY MOTIVATED SERIOUS APPLICANTS NEED APPLY* Lots of potential, we have the opportunity to build something very unique together, lots of free time to explore, hike and live the good life. 10 miles from historical town of Wilkeson, 20 miles from the largest town with grocery store.
