Description: The Two Rivers Center, an historic 19-acre farm on the outskirts of Montpelier, houses Food Works’ core programs including Farm-to-Table, a year-round food aggregation and distribution service connecting local farmers with institutions that primarily serve at-risk populations such as schools, daycare centers, senior centers, and mental health facilities, while providing market development, incubation, and education to our region’s farmers and producers; and the Two Rivers Farm which provides a variety of educational opportunities in agriculture for youth through our Workforce Development Program, with past support from the Vermont Department of Labor. Other programs include our statewide summer food education initiative, Gardens for Learning, providing at-risk children ages 2-18 with wholesome food and hands on education during the summer months when the risk of hunger rises because school meals are not available. Also, Good Food, Good Medicine helps families living in Section 8 housing to plan and grow community gardens and provides education in nutrition and food preparation skills.
