A Penn State Extension project aimed at supporting the next generation of farmers has received an award for excellence from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents. The three-year project, which ended in October 2017, sought to increase the number and success of beginning farmers in Pennsylvania, with an emphasis on women and Hispanic and Latino farmers. The project featured on-farm demonstrations and study-circle learning networks, and it was credited with helping 52 people start farming, another 248 receive assistance in starting to farm, and 454 improve their farming success. Penn State offers a variety of online resources for beginning farmers, including fact sheets, articles, online education, videos, worksheets, and more.
