Permalink Researchers Say Citizen Scientists Could Help Advance Agricultural Research

An international team of researchers published a paper in Proceedings of the Royal Society B, investigating the potential for citizen science to contribute to agricultural research. The team identified unique opportunities for citizen scientists to help advance research in the agriculture and food sectors, particularly in collaboration with Extension. Researchers found dozens of examples of citizen science contributions to agricultural research, including significant involvement by farmers. The study authors identify opportunities for engaging citizen scientists and make recommendations for effectively putting citizen scientists to work on pressing research needs.
