Minnesota Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for grants intended to stimulate sales of affordable, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food, including fresh fruits and vegetables, for underserved communities in low- and moderate-income areas. Grants from $2,500 to $50,000 will assist grocery stores and small food retailers in making physical improvements and purchasing equipment. Projects must serve census tracts designated as Food Deserts or as low- or moderate-income areas with a substantial subpopulation, such as the elderly or disabled, that have low supermarket access.
Proposals must be received by April 19, 2018.
