Permalink Exclusive Gabe Brown Workshop: Putting the Farm Back in Farming

Holistic Management International is offering this limited-registration event. Spend the day learning about soil health and profitable farming from Gabe Brown. The event begins with a tour of Kaesebier Farm that features cover crop test plots and a soil pit dig. The afternoon sessions taught by Gabe Brown focus on soil health practices that increase profitability.

University of Tennessee Center for Profitable Agriculture and UT Extension will present a workshop designed to help poultry farmers learn the basics of backyard poultry production and how to manage the risks of on-farm poultry processing. The workshop will present information about raising poultry, USDA poultry exemptions, considerations of getting started, marketing and labeling requirements and business management. The workshop is designed for small poultry farmers who want to raise birds and for those who want to consider processing their birds and direct-marketing the meat.

This University of Tennessee Center for Profitable Agriculture workshop is designed to help growers learn the basics of using records and budgets to track revenue and costs and to plan. Some locations will offer an additional topic and these may include sales tax, business tax and liability insurance for value-added products, or managing risks of backyard poultry. There is no registration fee for these workshops but pre-registration is required as space is limited.
