Permalink Cover Crop Field Day

November 28, 2017
Red Oak, Iowa

Iowa Learning Farms, along with Walnut Creek Watershed, Practical Farmers of Iowa and Natural Resources Conservation Service, will host a free cover crop field day. The event will feature a panel of Montgomery County cover crop famers including Gary Johnson, Mike Johnson, Mark Peterson, Dave Robinette and Kent Swanson. They will discuss how they have incorporated cover crops into their farming operations, tips for success and suggestions for overcoming challenges. Also speaking at the field day is Sarah Carlson, Midwest cover crop director with Practical Farmers of Iowa. She will share results from on-farm cover crop research projects and ideas for maximizing cover crop benefits

Permalink Green Lands Blue Waters Conference

Madison, Wisconsin

Green Lands Blue Waters (GLBW) is a regional consortium of Mississippi River watershed partners working to improve soil and water quality by increasing continuous living cover on the agricultural landscape. The theme of this year’s conference, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems, is Continuous Living Cover: Bridging the Gaps with Livestock. Now in its sixth year, the Green Lands Blue Waters Conference is a gathering place for agency, university and nonprofit staff, and farmers and other citizens who share an interest in conservation in the Mississippi River watershed and beyond.

Wichita Falls, Texas

The Fourth Annual Southern Soil Health Conference presented by Green Cover Seed and The Noble Research Institute is a unique educational opportunity for producers, landowners, and others interested in soil health and sustainable farming and ranching. Keynote speakers will include; Paul Jasa, (UNL) Dr. Richard Teague (Texas A&M), Doug Peterson (National NRCS), Willie Durham (National NRCS), Keith Berns and Dale Strickler (Green Cover Seed), Jim Johnson (Noble Research) and more. Llocal Texas and Oklahoma producers will share their individual experiences with Soil Health and how it has affected their farming operations.
