The North American Food Systems Network (NAFSN) has released a Community & Agriculture Resilience Audit Tool (CARAT). CARAT measures the resources within a food system via 101 indicators to determine possible next steps to increase community resiliency and food sovereignty. The tool helps community stakeholders assess how the assets of their local food system have led to community resilience, and how they can build even greater resilience. The tool is available online. In 2024, NAFSN will conduct a pilot program of the tool with six U.S. communities, to support their completion of the audit and improve and strengthen the tool. Applications to participate in the pilot program are due February 29, 2024.
