Elise Haschke is dedicated to rehabilitating the food system as an entry point to a larger network of economic and societal transformations needed to regenerate all life on Earth—to restore ecological health and biodiversity, strengthen family farms and rural communities, mitigate climate change, and advance human health and vitality. Elise’s background blends experience in human nutrition, USDA Food and Nutrition Service programs, local farm-to-market supply chains, on-farm production, and food systems policy development. Elise can be found traveling off-the-beaten-path, and once had a transformative experience riding horseback on a holistically managed ranch in Montana’s Centennial Valley.

Director, Farm Direct Program, September 2016 – October 2019
Sustainable Food Center, Austin, TX

Developed and oversaw departmental programming and led a six-person team managing sales channels, including two farmers markets, and farm services that generate $2M+ in annual revenue for sustainable farms and ranches in Texas.

Workshare, April 2014 – July 2016
Green Gate Farm, Bastrop, TX

Committed to a weekly shift of seasonal field work on a small-scale, certified organic farm. Tended the fields and livestock, built on-farm structures, and harvested produce for sale to Austin-area markets, including farmers markets, CSA members, and restaurants.
