Emilie Ritter joined NCAT in April 2021. Emilie is an organizational leader with executive-level experience as a communicator, public policy advisor and strategic planner. Her approach is driven by strategy, multimedia storytelling, data, and effective project management to amplify and elevate people, initiatives, and organizations. For the last four years, Emilie has led communications and public affairs for the Montana Department of Commerce, which supports community and business development, tourism and film promotion, and supporting access to affordable housing. Through this work, Emilie implemented successful outreach plans for diverse projects including the reauthorization of Montana’s suite of economic development programs, leading the communications and marketing strategy for the 2020 Census which resulted in Montana regaining a second congressional seat, and leading the outreach strategy for deploying more than $300 million in federal COVID-19 relief dollars. Previously, Emilie led communications for the Montana Office of Public Instruction. Emilie spent a decade as a public radio journalist based in Montana and Idaho. Her work has been featured on NPR, the BBC, CBC, Reuters, National Native News, and more. Emilie is a Montanan and graduate of the University of Montana School of Journalism.
