Internship Details:
Greetings,
We are no longer accepting new application for the summer season, but you are very welcome to apply for the fall season, end of August September, October. We generally take people for a minimum of 2 weeks and up to 3 months. After reviewing our farm situation we decided to continue to offer internships/apprenticeships on the farm. But you must be aware of the situation and flexible as things can change rapidly.
Please find bellow an overview of the plan for internships. If you are interested to apply or know more about it, please send me a short description of yourself, your interest in coming work on the farm, a recent picture of yourself, and a phone number to join you with a good time to do so. I will contact you shortly after for an interview and will be very happy to answer any questions you might have.
Oregon is currently under lock down, and we have some quarantine zones on the farm. Upon arrival, interns will have to go under a 2 weeks quarantine. We will work at 12 foot distance for those 2 weeks and do a lot of sanitization. Lodging is in a RV with bathroom, kitchen, fridge, hot water internet access and heating. If more than 1 apprentice, you might share the RV with another intern. We have a well furnished library, we can bring down some books for you for the quarantine time.
After the quarantine time, you will have access to the office and library, and we will have some meals and evening activities with community members but not necessarily in the farm house as the house stays in quarantine for people working in town. Please note that people are not allowed to go in town, or if they do they will have to undergo another 2 weeks quarantine or leave not to expose the other aprentices in the RV.
We are looking for people interested in a learning experience of life on a biodynamic farm. Interns will be helping with all tasks related to gardening; planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, processing, preserving, and maintaining the garden space. Biodynamic preparations will be prepared and applied periodically on the farm. As a self-sustainable farm, we work on different aspect of food preserving throughout the year; fermentation, canning, cheese-making, yogurt, etc. Forests on the properties are sustainably managed for ecological old-growth restoration and conservation and these activities provide the construction material for our projects and firewood. Interns will have the opportunity to learn and take part in other areas of the farm depending on their interests and on the projects going on at the moment.
Educational Opportunities: This internship is a hands-on learning experience with opportunities to learn from experienced farmers and gardeners. We also offer slideshows for those interested about the Biodynamic way of farming. There is a library with a wide variety of books on sustainable construction, gardening, and farming, as well as other topics upon request.
Skills Desired: Willingness to work and learn. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Meals: Food and lodging are included. Meals are organic and uses mainly produces from the garden and the farm (meat, milk, butter and sometime cheese if we get extra time to make it).
Stipend: 75$/week
Housing: For lodging, interns have their private space in a new RV with 2 bedrooms. If more then 1 intern, they share the rv, or during summer some people use tents since the weather is always great…
