Internship information
General Farm Description: We're a 7 acre farm specializing in naturally grown vegetables, hydroponic lettuce, pasture raised poultry, and pasture raised pork. We also dabble in mushroom production and are home to a 19 hive apiary. The centerpiece of our farm is a wood-fired brick oven bakery where we specialize in organic flour sourdough breads, pastries, and value added farm products such as soups and chicken pot pies. We also have 2 other joint venture side businesses. One is a collaboration with a local brewery on a neopolitan pizzeria and the other is a collaboration with a former apprentice on a kombucha and fermented vegetables business.

Internship Details:

We have one position open on our bakery team for the 2023 season. In this position you’ll work 8-10 hours/day, 5 days/week along side our team of professional bakers. The main emphasis of our operation is on bread but you’ll also assist in the production of other baked goods and value added farm products. In addition to working in the bakery you’ll also be representing our farm at one market each week. This position is intended for a person who is interested in learning new skills, improving existing skills, and considering working as a baker or learning how to value added products to a farm in the future. We have a strong sense of community here and we’ve always found that apprentices get as much from the friendships and social events created here as they do from learning the job itself. The ideal candidate would be open to joining our team full time after the apprenticeship ends but that’s not necessarily a requirement. We expect everyone on our team to work with a sense of urgency and at a professional pace.

Educational Opportunities: Learn the art of bread making, working in a commercial kitchen, cookie, muffin, croissant, etc making. You'll learn how to value add farm products into things such as chicken pot pie. Apprentices also learn about marketing through farmers markets, natural food stores, and restaurants/cafe's. This is also a great way to get a look at our industry and figure out where you'd like to end up in it.

Skills Desired: Prior kitchen experience of any kind is very helpful. You must be able to maintain a sense of urgency and set a pace for yourself. A positive outgoing attitude is a must.

Meals: Apprentices are able to pick their own produce, glean market leftovers (you'll always have bread and baked goods), and get deep discounts on our frozen and shelf stable items along with the ability to purchase items we source for our store and bakery at cost. But you do your own cooking.

Stipend: Yes, it starts at $400/week and goes up mid season

Housing: Yes

Preferred method of Contact: email
