Internship information
General Farm Description: Bates Creek Cattle Company is a medium-sized family-owned commercial cattle ranch 25 miles from Casper, Wyoming. We run Angus cows and raise hormone and antibiotic-free Angus and Angus/Hereford cross calves for sale as calves, yearlings, and 2-year-old grassfed beeves. To feed the cattle in the winter, we have an irrigated hay operation with 2 center pivot sprinklers and an extensive flood irrigation system. The cattle are wintered on and near the hay fields and trailed up to the summer range in the northern Shirley Basin in May. We use low-stress livestock handling techniques, rotational grazing with electric fence, fence-line weaning, windrow grazing, and multi-species cover crops in the hay fields to build a healthy soil. We use horses and ATV's to move cattle.CRAFT Member Farm? No
