General Farm Description: D&V Organics is located 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia, growing 20 acres of certified organic specialty produce. Our produce is sold through our CSA farm share program, wholesale accounts as well as some of the region's most vibrant farmer's markets in NYC and the Philadelphia area.CRAFT Member Farm? No

Internship Details:
Learn the ins and outs of small scale, mechanized organic vegetable production. Our internship focuses on techniques used in the mid-Atlantic region to grow high quality, flavorful produce for our customers. Interns will have the opportunity to see and participate in all aspects of our farming operation, including but not limited to:
Tractor operation, maintenance and equipment setup
Greenhouse seedling production
Greenhouse crop production and techniques
Field crop production and techniques
Organic Pest and disease management and control strategies
Organic fertility management
Soil tests and interpretation
Hand-eye coordination/efficiency techniques
Sales and marketing strategies, wholesale and direct-to-consumer
Educational Opportunities: Interns are given daily and weekly responsibilities. We will work directly with interns to help them develop skills that will last beyond their internship term, such as: Tractor operation, maintenance and equipment setup Greenhouse seedling production Greenhouse crop production and techniques Field crop production and techniques Organic Pest and disease management and control strategies Organic fertility management Soil tests and interpretation Hand-eye coordination/efficiency techniques Sales and marketing strategies, wholesale and direct-to-consumer
Skills Desired: Prior farming experience or outdoor job experience is preferred Ability to lift 40 lbs. of produce repeatedly Willingness to work in all weather conditions Ability to show up to work on time and ready to work

Stipend: Rate of pay is hourly, depending on experience$12-$16
