General Farm Description: Featherstone Farm is a 250 acre certified organic farm located in the bluff country in and around Rushford, Minnesota. The farm produces around 70 varieties of fresh market fruits and vegetables for distribution to local co-ops, restaurants and grocers, wholesalers and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members throughout the region. We are committed to producing and distributing high quality, certified organic fresh vegetables, in a way that reflects values of personal, financial and environmental sustainability.

Internship Details:

Featherstone Farm is looking to hire a horticulture technician. We would like to find an experienced employee to join our horticulture team to help grow over 130 acres fresh veggies for wholesale and CSA. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: irrigation installation and application, scouting for pests and disease, field prep and cultivation, fertility monitoring and application, and data collection. Horticulture team members are also occasionally assigned other responsibilities or projects like wash and pack, harvest, carpentry projects, ect. They are important members of Featherstone’s Horticulture team and involved in all aspects of Field Production from hand labor and equipment operation to data collection and analysis. For the right person, there is potential to take on more responsibility within field production and crop management at Featherstone Farm in subsequent years.


Educational Opportunities: We believe getting hands on experience on a real working farm is the best way to learn. At Featherstone you will get experience with many aspects of growing organic vegetables from seed to sale.

Skills Desired: Qualifications: We are seeking positive, engaged, self-motivated team players with a passion for problem solving and completing high-quality work. Qualified applicants will ideally have 2 full seasons experience with field production of organic vegetables. Demonstrated ability to operate farm equipment (tillage, seeding, cultivating and harvesting equipment, among others) is desired but not required. Excellent communication skills, Spanish language skills and proficiency with MS Excel are highly sought but not required.

Meals: No, but free organic veggies are available to employees

Stipend: Hourly wage based on experience
