General Farm Description: Welcome to what was the largest organic banana and ginger/ turmeric farm in the USA since 1980. We are now growing a large variety of vegetables as well. 25 acres are opened for farming. Ginger Ridge Farms is a small farm dedicated to growing delicious, healthy foods, using organic and sustainable methods. , we strive to provide the freshest, highest quality vegetables and fruit to our customers.

Internship Details:

We are most interested in mentoring workers from countries outside the US and USA people wanting to develop into full time work and becoming staff members here. The learning opportunity includes all aspects of organic food production from pre-plant – harvest – value added products. Expectations for interns include helping with most aspects of our farm operation. Work includes harvesting, washing & preparing produce for our markets, setting up and selling at the farmers market, preparing growing beds, starting seeds, transplanting, cultivating, weeding, irrigation, high-tunnel maintenance, compost preparation and application, along with other farm duties as necessary for growing and selling our crops. We expect a minimum of 50 hours of work per week with one day off


Educational Opportunities: The learning opportunity includes all aspects of organic food production from pre-plant - harvest - value added products. Eating for health, Tai Chi Chuan, Chi Kung meditation, Muaythai, Shiatsu and personal training. Howard James is a premier Tai Chi instructor and MuayThai trainer with over 50 years experience. He is an international organic farm consultant with experience both in temperate and tropical climates having done work for USAid in the Philippines and with Kasetsart University in Thailand. We are transforming into place of learning and inner growth through work and practice. We are also becoming a show place of landscaped gardens, with fountains, south east asian and hawaiian arts. We can provide a creative work and living opportunity for you. Skills Desired: Important to be comfortable squating. We prefer applicants with some level of experience with growing vegetables, Such as gardening for personal or family food production. We prefer interns who are strongly interested in someday having their own farm . Would be great if you have skills with weed eater, chainsaw, back pack sprayer, walk behind tiller, bamboo construction, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, welding.
