Internship information
General Farm Description: Green Flamingo is a 5 acre diversified market garden, with 2 1/2 acres in production and 2 1/2 acres in cover crop each season. We are always striving to be innovative and using methods that help create long term soil sustainability. We use no till methods, dry land farming techniques (we do not irrigate), full year cover crop rotations, and greenhouse propagation. We are focused on having a high biodiversity and use many permaculture methods at the farm (especially to help with season extension). Green Flamingo is production and education oriented and sells to Farmers Market, Restaurants and Health Food Stores. We focus on teaching, and spend lots of time to make sure that interns leave the farm with much more farming knowledge then when they arrived. Once an internship has been completed you are eligible to work with Incubator Farm Program. This is a program to offer land stewardship without the need for land ownership. We hope to bridge the gap for those who would like to take the next steps in farming/growing, but are not ready to fly solo (we offer lots of support to keep new farmers from becoming overwhelmed).
