Join our small committed farm team where our goal is to support our purpose, vision and mission with respectful, positive, and creative energy. Honey’s Harvest Farm exists to create a healthier world. We aspire to do so by empowering people to feel good through our products, agritourism events, hands-on workshops, and weekend retreats.
We farm using the principles of permaculture and regenerative agriculture. The main focus of this internship is actively working on the regenerative agriculture farm with duties to include: cultivating, propagating, harvesting, processing, and packaging produce and medicinal plants. We have perennial and annual crops to be managed year round. There are 2 acres at Honey’s Farmhouse Retreat and 10 acres at Honey’s Harvest 160 acre farm of living soil crops. Additionally, there is a 20 acre food forest with productive fruit and nut bearing trees that will need maintenance and harvesting year round.
Working hours will be between 6-8 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. Long-term employment opportunity is available after an assessment period.
Educational Opportunities: Learn about living soil and how to make it with all free inputs, how to use it to grow nutrient dense food and medicine. Learn the operations of the on-site farm store and participate in the retail aspects of produce delivery, inventory, product display, and serving our customers. Participate in the large cooperative farmers market held on the property once a month. At certain times, assist with agritourism events like workshops, tours, and retreat.
Skills Desired: Know how to seed, transplant, maintain, and harvest annual and perennial crops. Ability to maintain a steady work pace throughout an 8 hour day, easily lift 50 pounds, withstand the elements, and work as a team. Excellent communications skills are a must as you will be interacting with team members, business partners, and the general public. Interest in processing harvested plants into value added products.
Meals: Meals are not provided but discounted produce and other farm store products are available.
Stipend: This is a paid internship starting at $15.00 per hour.
Housing: Temporary housing in the Studio Loft at Honey’s Farmhouse Retreat for the first month is included. Further housing options will be discussed during the interview.
