Number of Internship Available: 1 position available
Application Deadline: March 7
Minimum Length of Stay: March 15-August 13

Internship Details:

The apprentice works at the farm Tuesday – Friday and attends the farmers market with me on Saturdays. It is preferred that the apprentice have their own vehicle to get to the market. A typical week will consist of a 40 hour work week. During the summer we take longer lunch breaks to avoid the heat of the day and work more efficiently.

Educational Opportunities: The apprentice will be working alongside the owner/farm manager most days. They will learn how to seed in a greenhouse, transplant, weed, fertilize, set up irrigation, harvest/package vegetables, harvest flowers, arrange flower bouquets, dry flowers, and handcraft wreaths in the fall. This is the perfect apprentice opportunity for someone who is interested in learning how to farm through hands on experience. In 2021 we launched our nonprofit, Little Fox Tractor School. We hold monthly classes that focus on tractor maintenance, tractor safety, and other topics. The apprentice can attend all of the classes as part of their internship.

Skills Desired: Although some farming experience is preferred, it's not required. I'm looking for an apprentice who is passionate about farming, eager to learn, and creative. Farming can be physically demanding at times, but arranging flower bouquets and making wreaths requires creativity and patience.

Meals: Meals are not provided, but the apprentice is encouraged to take vegetables from the farm.

Stipend: The apprentice will receive a weekly stipend of $200.

Housing: There is a small air conditioned one room cabin provided for the apprentice on the farm with a separate bathroom with hot water and a shower, and a covered outdoor kitchen area.
