General Farm Description: MRF is a small, diversified farm in Dover, PA. We grow vegetables for a CSA program, farmers' markets, wholesale accounts and our farm store. Vegetables are our primary operation, but we also raise pastured chicken. Our farm is an old Christmas tree farm, so we also have a small business in December doing tree and wreath sales.CRAFT Member Farm? No

Internship Details:
At Mad Radish we offer a hands-on, learning-through-doing approach to all aspects of farming. Farm work will include greenhouse seeding, transplanting, cultivating, tractor work, harvesting, washing and packing vegetables, animal chores, attending markets, making deliveries and many other tasks required on the farm. This is truly an internship experience and the goal is to prepare you to run your own farm in the future.
Hours required:
March & April – 30 hours / week
May – September – 40 – 50 hours / week
October & November – 30 hours / week
December – 20 hours / week
Skills required: A strong work ethic, desire to learn about farming, strong sense of humor, and a valid driver’s license.
Skills preferred: Prior customer service experience, prior farm work experience, ability to operate a manual vehicle, small engines (weedwacker/mower), tractor, and/or a chainsaw.
Compensation: Stipend of $1600/month. Workers’ compensation, vegetables and eggs from the farm are included with the position. We also offer potential for housing stipend and opportunity for an end of season bonus.
Educational Opportunities: During the winter/spring (Dec-Mar) months, we have the ability to focus on the parts of the operation that you're most interested in, including aspects like greenhouse production, animal production, farm bookkeeping, and tree/forest management.
Skills Desired: A strong work ethic and desire to learn more about farming is required. Farm experience and customer service experience preferred.
Meals: No, but vegetables and eggs from the farm are available for our interns.
Stipend: We offer a stipend of $1500/month for apprentices. Applicants with some farming experience may be eligible for a larger stipend.
Housing: No, but we do offer potential for a housing stipend.
