Internship information
General Farm Description: At Orange Cat Community Farm we love growing organic vegetables! What is even better is sharing them with the local community and providing people an opportunity to see where their food comes from. The farm is located in Sauk County, WI near Reedsburg and Wisconsin Dells. It is 1 hour from Madison and about 20 minutes from the Baraboo Hills, where there are beautiful hiking and recreational opportunities. The farm has been in operation since 2010. It is 22 acres with 3 acres of certified organic vegetables, including hoophouse production. The produce is marketed through a 165 member main season CSA as well as spring and fall CSA shares and a farmers’ market in Baraboo. The farm is female owned and operated. Orange Cat Community Farm prides itself on producing high quality vegetables and creating a positive CSA experience for members. Every season it is very exciting to see what hard-working, motivated individuals join our team. Come be a part of it!

Internship Details:

Hours of expected work are 8:00am- 5pm, Monday through Friday with an hour lunch break. There will be times when circumstances require us to work later, but I’ll do my best to keep the schedule. Employees are required to attend the Saturday farmers’ market on a rotating basis. The farm has several worker shares that help out weekly. At any given time there are usually 3-5 people working on a crew.

Although the daily regiment will change, in a season expect to be involved with the following:

greenhouse transplant production,
transplanting and direct seeding,
weeding,
irrigation,
harvest,
post-harvest handling,
hoophouse vegetable production,
selling at a farmers’ market,
driving delivery routes, and
the ins and outs of running a CSA with happy members.

Valid driver’s license is recommended but not required.
