Internship information
General Farm Description: We are a 250 acre organic wholesale farm in the Skagit Valley. We grow a wide variety of vegetables, but our focus is on fall and winter crops, especially leeks. We are also in the process of opening a goat creamery to add work during the farm's slow season.

Internship Starts: ASAP
Internship Ends: We work full time-year round
Number of Internship Available: 4
Application Deadline: ongoing until filled
Minimum Length of Stay: 2 years

Internship Details:

Production Assistant, Creamery Manager, Goat Herd Manager, & Equipment Operator

We are currently hiring for the above 4 positions to start as soon as possible. All positions are full time, paid hourly DOE. The Production Assistant and Equipment Operators will work on the vegetable farm side of the operation, whereas the Herd Manager and Creamery Manager will work together to run the dairy.

Creamery Manager: This is a great opportunity for somebody to build a set of creamery products from the ground up. You will oversee all aspects of the creamery, from recipe development and testing to production and packaging. As well as milk from our goats, the creamery will have access to cow’s milk from the dairy farm next door. Creamery facilities are currently under construction, and nearly ready for inspection. Our farm is known for producing the highest quality wholesale organic vegetables, and we expect the creamery to uphold that same quality standard.

Goat Herd Manager: The herd manager will oversee all daily care/feeding/milking of our 200+ La Mancha goats. The herd is well established, with multiple pens and pastures for kids, adults, and males, as well as an active milking facility. We produce a portion of our own hay on the farm, and manure and bedding from the dairy is composted and used in our vegetable fields.

Production Assistant: Our goal in the coming years is to increase our efficiency and mechanization, and generally streamline production and harvest systems throughout the farm. The production assistant will assist the existing production team in achieving these goals.

Equipment Operator: Our goal in the coming years is to increase our mechanization in order to improve efficiency and relieve our workers from some of the most strenuous tasks. We currently own much of the machinery required to accomplish this goal, but we need a person to actually get them out in the field, tuned up, and doing work.

Full job descriptions are available upon request. Email leekking@hotmail.com. We do not have a website.

TO APPLY FOR ANY OF THE ABOVE POSITIONS: Please send a resume and brief introduction to leekking@hotmail.com. Sorry, but we are too busy to accept phone inquiries or drop-by visits.
