Internship Details:

We farm a bit differently at Rolling Hills! We’re a 2 acre farm that focuses on sustainability in both our growing methods and for our employees. We utilize many high tunnels, low tunnels, and small farm tools on our 2 acres to grow a wide variety of crops. At our farm you will learn how to use low tech infrastructure and tools to grow many crops the most efficient way possible. We grow many crops early in the season and late into the year in order to balance the workload and prevent burnout in the Summer months. Learn all aspects of the farm including seeding, planting, harvesting, washing/packing, and marketing. Our interns work 40-45 hours a week, including farming and a farmers market. Learn how to grow a lot of organic food on very small acreage sustainably and leave our farm with the information you need to start your own small scale operation! Our interns are just as important to the business as the owners are and will be taught every aspect of what we do in order to understand the full picture. During farm walks each week we all determine what needs to happen that week and how to do it best! Start and End dates are not set in stone depending on intern’s availability.
Please send cover letter AND resume.

Both a season long full-time and Summer long part time position are available.

Educational Opportunities: Apprentices are encouraged to come to the internship with aspects of farming/business that they would like to know more about and we will do our best to cover them. There will be a few hours dedicated to crop planning/crop rotation and we have a healthy library of resources for you to read. Our area has monthly tours of different farms where you will learn many new skills. Apprentices are highly encouraged to participate in the tours.

Skills Desired: Someone who has a passion to learn more about small scale, sustainable agriculture and has a strong work ethic.

Meals: Produce from the farm. Employees are encouraged to take home "seconds" to preserve for the Winter months.

Stipend: $10-$13/hour depending on experience, plus produce from farm, more for those with experience. We offer a bonus for those returning the following year.
