General Farm Description: We raise a wide variety of organic vegetables which are marketed to the Morgantown, WV and Oakland, MD areas through a 300+ member year-round Farm Share Subscription program. Our online market (based on in-house custom software) gives subscribers a wide variety of choice in what they receive each week from the farm as well as offers a wide variety of products from other producers in our region. We deliver to various drop spots and subscriber’s homes approx. 40 weeks out of the year. We proudly employ H2A workers from Chiapas, Mexico from mid-April through November and we are looking for a candidate with some knowledge of the Spanish language who is excited about the opportunity to practice communicating in Spanish, even if they are far from fluent.

Application Deadline: 1/1/21

Internship Details:

We are seeking a full season apprentice to begin immediately and continue through November 2021. One goal of our apprentice program is to find and train long term crew members, so preference will be given to candidates that do not have future commitments that would prevent them from staying on long-term with an advancement and pay raise. Pay begins at $8.75/hr with housing on farm provided; 30-50 hrs/week, depending on the time of year. Tasks would include: harvest and planting assistance, packing deliveries for our year round farm-share members, running errands for the farm, inventory management of the items from our reselling partners, basic tractor and building maintenance. We are looking for someone who is excited to farm, curious, inquisitive, intelligent, hard-working and has an eye to detail, with the drive to help us improve our operation. Clean driving record is a must. Comfortability with Spanish is preferred, as our summertime help consists of H2A workers from Mexico.

Educational Opportunities: You will be intimately involved in almost all aspects of running a diversified farm, with the opportunity to be involved in the decision making. This is an excellent stepping stone for someone who is considering owning their own farm at some point in the future or is looking for the training to become a productive, contributing member of a farm crew.
