General Farm Description: Seeds and Spores Family Farm is located in Chocolay Township, twelve miles south of Marquette, Michigan. Our diverse "beyond organic" farm is home to eleven hoop houses, five acres of mixed produce, perennial fruits, medicinal herbs, hemp, and pasture raised livestock. This will be our 25th season producing food for our community. Our farm products are sold locally via our CSA, direct farm sales through our online store, twice weekly Farmers Markets in Marquette, the Marquette Food Co-op, and other local groceries and restaurants. The farm also has a certified agricultural processing kitchen and a wood fired pizza oven. We do host some events and Farm to Table Dinners with guest chefs.

Internship Details:

We are in the process of assembling our farm crew for the 2022 season. There are three or four open positions. The majority of the crew’s time is spent on organic and regenerative based vegetable/ fruit production and distribution. One position includes running our pack shed on harvest/wash/pack days. Another is an assistant to our Greenhouse Manager. Depending on interests and the makeup of the final crew, some time might be designated towards medicinal herbs/ medicine making, pasture based livestock, value added food projects, farm events, and/or permaculture. All positions are full time and include working as a team under the guidance of experienced farm managers. Crew members must be able to preform manual labor in all types of weather.


Educational Opportunities: This is a working internship with hands on experience.

Skills Desired: Prior agricultural experience is favorable.

Stipend: Hourly pay varies with experience.
