General Farm Description: We are a small family farm located in the rolling hills of Vermont. We grow pastured raised meats and fresh vegetables. We have a small CSA with our farm products, and an on site farm store. We raise beef, pork, broiler chickens and laying hens. Our beef is 100% grass fed and our pork is primarily raised on grass with a little GMO-free grain as a supplement Our broiler chickens and laying hens are raised on pasture three quarters of the year and supplemented with GMO-free grain We also have a small market garden which we grow using organic methods.

Internship Details:

We are a diverse farm so there are many opportunities to learn about both livestock and vegetable production. There are a variety if tasks that will be available daily. If you work with the livestock you will be involved with the following: fencing(we use rotational grazing), moving animals to fresh pasture, hand milking our dairy cow, working on our solar irrigation and fencing system, processing meat birds throughout the summer, haying, weedwacking fence lines and much more.
We also have a small market garden in which we grow produce for our farm CSA. You will be involved in the seeding, planting, harvesting and daily maintenance. With our CSA you will be involved in all areas which include harvesting, washing , bagging and delivery. We use NO chemicals on our farm. We grow using only organic and sustainable method
We ask that you work 40 -45 hours per week


Educational Opportunities: There are many learning opportunities on our farm. Ken and I have worked on farms for many years and we are glad to share what we have learned.If you want to learn how to start a farm from scratch this is for you. We have had our own farm business now for 8 years. The following are topics that we can teach about if interested: animal husbandry, soil health,rotational grazing, solar irrigation systems, permaculture, carbon sequestration, off grid living(our house is 100% off grid), canning and preserving and much more. There are also many farm workshops all over VT that you can attend if interested.

Skills Desired: First and foremost the most important aspect is that you have a love of LEARNING and trying new things.It is not mandatory that you have previous farm work experience. We ask that you can do physical labor in all kind of elements, good work ethic, responsible, dependable and trustworthy. We have a small farm, so you are a crucial part of making it run well.

Meals: A full kitchen will be available for cooking meals. You will have all our farm products to use for cooking meals daily(meat, eggs, dairy and vegetables). We will share a family style meal a few days per week.

Stipend: We supply room and board for 25 hours work then we will pay $10.00 to $12.00 per hour for the additional 15 to 20 hours. we would like our intern to work between 40 and 45 hours per week.

Housing: We will provide a small house for your living quarters. It has all the amenities you need. Water, heat, power, kitchen, There is a phone and Wi-Fi at the main farmhouse We DO NOT get cell service. We ask that you provide your own vehicle since we live in a rural setting
