Internship Details:

Do you like local food and supporting small family-farms? Sol Seeker Farm is seeking a motivated and responsible individual to fill our Pastured Poultry Production and Marketing Assistant position. This person will be responsible for delivering products to Santa Cruz 1-2 days a week and working farmers markets on weekends in San Jose Area, and proving on-farm production support, such a washing and packing eggs and feeding birds.
Job Responsibilities:
Delivery Driver
• Review delivery tags to ensure all product is packed in each order prior to leaving farm
• Deliver orders to customers on assigned routes
• Unload product and communicate with receivers
• Obtain delivery confirmation and signatures from each customer
• Unpack the truck of any empty boxes, crate or other items used upon return to farm
• Provide delivery tag book to owner upon return.
• Communicate openly with owners and customers with any issues
Farmers Market
• Review packing and supply list prior to leaving farm
• Drive trucks to farmers markets and back to farm
• Unload, set up and break down stall at farmer’s market
• Excellent attention to customer and customer service
• Track sales manually and in Square on tablets
• Neatly pack-up market supplies and unsold product load into truck
• Unpack the truck of any empty boxes, crate or other items used upon return to farm
• Record any unsold product upon return from farmers market on inventory lists
On-farm Production Assistant duties include but are not limited to:
• Collect, wash, and pack eggs
• Feed birds
• Help rotate mobile chicken tractors and trailers in a timely fashion
• Help maintain field sanitation

Skills Desired: Qualifications: • Clean driving record and valid drivers’ license • Great organizational skills and attention to detail • Great communication skills with owners, employees and customers • At least one year employed in customer service • Willingness to learn online sales reporting • Ability to perform certain tasks, such as heavy lifting over 50 pounds, repetitive grasping, standing, bending and walking. Preferred Qualifications: • Spanish language skills • Interest in animal welfare and sustainable animal husbandry • Interest in or knowledge of organic farming practices • Knowledge of marketing and sales of local food or products Other valuable skills we would love to have include: cooking, photography, writing, social media, web design, farm work, etc.

Stipend: YES WITH AN OPTION FOR A RAISE WTITHIN FIRST SUCCESSFUL MONTH.

Housing: NEGOTIABLE. SOMEONE WITH A TRAILER WOULD BE IDEAL.
