Internship information
General Farm Description: Sunfield is an 81 acre diversified biodynamic farm on the NorthEast Corner of the Olympic Peninsula (The NorthWest Corner of the United States). The climate is maritime and temperate. There is a Waldorf grade and middle school on site. The farm is comprised of 5 acre school campus, 42 acre fields and pasture, 8 acres wetlands, and 26 acres forest. We grow about an acre of annuals every year for produce and seed production. 1 acre of young apples trees, 1 acre of young hazelnuts, 1 acre of young blueberries and raspberries for a u-pick. More orchards, windbreaks, and wetland plantings are consistently planned and executed every year. Hay production. Rotation grazing with beef cattle, fiber sheep, dairy goats, laying hens (and a milk cow is coming soon!). The farm follows the principles of Biodynamic Agriculture informed by Rudolf Steiner. The Waldorf School is heavily integrated with the farm, and an interest in environmental education is encouraged. We are in a very active and thriving farming community, and the national park is very close by. Extra curricular activities abound.
