Internship information
General Farm Description: Treiber Farms grows a wide variety of fruits and vegetables on about 15 acres on Long Island’s East End. One acre is no-till vegetables and the rest is divided amongst blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, pears, peaches and additional low-till vegetables. Our farming practices reflect our values of simplicity, sustainability and resourcefulness. We do not use synthetic sprays on any of our produce and seek to minimize the use of organic sprays, choosing to work with nature rather than against it. Most of our work is done by hand. It is at this level that we can be most attentive to the needs of the plants. Our produce is sold through a small CSA, farm stand and wholesale accounts. We also enjoy opportunities to cross-pollinate agriculture and the arts through collaborations and events in the field and at our Old Barn.
