Our goal is to provide apprentices with a fun, educational experience. We want everyone to leave with a love for farming and the tools necessary to pursue a career of nurturing the land. You will work as part of a team as we share ideas, perfect our existing techniques and develop new ones. You will participate in everything necessary to grow and market vegetables and specialty seeds.
Educational Opportunities: Learn all we know about running a permaculture oriented market garden and seed company: planting, nursery work, irrigating, seed saving and breeding, harvest/post harvest, marketing/farmers market, setting up study trials, crop planning, polyculture design, building, greenhouse design, intercropping, compost tea making, soil fertility management, food preservation among other things. We grow for production with soil health as the number one priority.
Skills Desired: We seek intelligent, dependable, creative, fun folks! No previous knowledge necessary, but some is helpful. We are looking for someone who desires to work hard in a fun environment with an open mind. We learn from each other while providing exceptionally healthy food to our customers. Our top priorities are soil health, research, seed breeding, and developing innovative systems, so expect an experience in a cutting-edge permaculture oriented market farm. An 'up to any task' attitude is a must and compassion for everyone involved in the operation is essential! This year we are looking for 1-2 interns for seasonal positions (flexible dates) and 1 apprentice for the entire season (April-November). We desire applications who want to be farmers and can guarantee commitment, and who see this opportunity as a stepping stone. Housing available and organic farm food provided for lunch and to use for all meals once season is in full swing. Please email a resume and cover letter to wildmountainseeds@gmail.com
