General Farm Description: Wildhair Ranch, LLC is a first-year startup, woman-owned small farm located in Zionville, NC. With a commitment to improving the land through regenerative agricultural practices and to improving people's health through good food, we are starting out our journey this year raising pastured poultry (chicken and ducks) as well as pork. Internship Details:
I’m looking for two people who are interested in pursuing a career in sustainable/regenerative animal agriculture and who would like to gain hands-on experience without having to commit to a full-time internship.
This would be a great opportunity for high school and college students.
Who I’m Looking For:
Loves animals
Hardworking
Dependable
Can handle working outside in the heat/cold/rain
Desires to learn
Some experience with animals preferred but not required
Available at least every other weekend
Available 1-2 days during the week
What You’ll Learn:
Electric Fencing 101
How to raise meat chickens and ducks from brooder to pasture
How to butcher chickens and ducks
How to raise pigs on pasture
How to butcher a pig on farm (hopefully)
How to organize inventory and market meat sales
In addition to the above expect to:
Set-up/move electric fence paddocks
Weed-eat fencing areas
Haul feed
Move water lines
Clean feeders, brooders and waterers, etc.

(This is not a regularly paid position.)
*If you are in college and want to do some sort of sustainable agriculture/environmental science research project for school credit (or if your school offers credits for internships) – I would be more than willing to help with that in any way that I can.
