USDA Rural Development administers the Rural Energy for America Program, which provides loans and grants to rural small businesses and agricultural producers for renewable energy systems and energy-efficiency improvements. Agricultural producers may also apply for new energy-efficient equipment and new system loans for agricultural production and processing. Grants are available for up to 25% of total eligible project costs, and combined grant and loan guarantee funding is available for a maximum of 75% of total eligible project costs.
