General Farm Description: Facebook, Waterbear Farm CSA. https://www.facebook.com/me/ 5 acre market garden using Organic and Biodynamic methods. Small tractors and cool implements and tools used extensively. 25 years and going! Situated in a cool mountain town with lots of music, festivals, and events. Farmers market and wholesale. Internship Details:
Work with Richie, a 57 year old veteran organic farmer, Jesse (33) the field manager and learn the craft. We grow 30 different veggies + herbs and fruit trees.
Beautiful location to work and live. 10 minutes from town. Nice cabin plus shower, laundry, Wi-Fi, electric, your own kitchen space.
40-50 hrs a week includes Monday thru Friday plus Saturday market. lots of easy hrs. This is not all hard labor. two paid week s off. but not consecutive.
Stipend – 100 a week plus 10% over 500 total sales
Planting harvesting weeding. Lots of info exchange and hands on learning. You will gain skills. This is a learning opportunity to set a foundation for your farm, not just work trade.
We have a good vibe and enjoy the life. Richie is a yogi.
We eat meat. But mainly we eat what we grow. We do not smoke tobacco or drink alcohol.
Educational Opportunities: Hands on learning on farm.
Skills Desired: Must have a valid drivers license and drive to market, 10 minutes from farm. 2 -3 weekends a month using farm van. personal vehicle is not required. bike is great!
Meals: Partial. group meals. free food from fields. intern cabin has kitchen
Stipend: 100 a week plus 15 % of sales over 600.
