Internship information
General Farm Description: "THE land was certified Organic in 2000. The cattle were certified Organic in 2007 this year I will have Kamut wheat 200 acres, barley 190/A, Alfalfa 98, lentils 80 acres. Peas 73 acres some for grazing some for seed. 88 acres plowdown Lentils. Easy going outfit. Rodeo is July 19. Lots of recreational opportunities. The yearlings will be Organic Grass-FAT. we will be planting a 12 species cover crop this year. Most of it will be used for grazing the cows"

Internship Details:

“Rebuild shop. Plowing, seeding, truck driving, combine, baling swathing, fencing, branding, moving cattle to summer pasture and back, calving starts about the 1st of March. Stacking hay with tractor. Canoeing, hiking, riding for the neighbors and our outfit. The Rodeo is the third Saturday of July. WE can teach you to weld. we have gates that need built. “

Educational Opportunities: "Wind turbine, weed and plant identification, driving and maintenance of equipment, mechanical opportunities, bookkeeping if desired. cooking experience if desired. We also have 220 acres of Sainfoin for grazing and Hay. We can teach you to weld, and do mechanic work. WE do have WI-FI WE are an up town operation, we do not live in tepees like they do back east."

Skills Desired: "A can do attitude,safety concerned, not afraid to get hands dirty. Being able to drive large tractors 8 hours a day. should be able to lift 50 lb sacks of salt to take to the cows. When we have a flat tire on big tractor, or the cows get out our priorities change. Sense of humor would be good. Common sense is something you have or you do not teach it. We have a few miles of electric fence to install for rotational grazing. Just takes time which not hard work.`"

Meals: "WE provide meals. We have Organic beef in the freezers. Gayle is a good cook, but if she is gone you will have opportunity to cook. We have very good nice neighbor Ranches. Gayle likes lots of variety in what she cooks. Shrimp, fish, chicken and pork is part of her Menu. Gayle raises a garden, has a green house, and some chickens for eggs."

Stipend: Starting wage is $1000 a month if you do good we will raise it. Your expenses will be very small we provide most things you need.

Housing: "Big bedroom and private bath provided. Make your self at home, tv and WI-FI AVAILABLE."
