Internship Details:
“Apprentices learn all aspects of managing a sustainable farm including: composting; plant propagation and greenhouse management; organic soil fertility; transplanting and direct seeding; irrigation; organic pest and weed management; orchard management; harvesting, marketing and food preservation; pasture management and animal husbandry; training and leading volunteers. “
Educational Opportunities: "Since our farm is fairly small, apprentices have the unique opportunity to work alongside the farmers on most days. We provide study materials and a once a week study session with the farmers. Many of our apprentices have gone on to start their own farms."
Skills Desired: "This opportunity is best suited for people who want to become farmers. The most important things we look for are a positive attitude, a love of hard physical labor, and a passion for growing and eating good food. "
Meals: "All of the farm bounty (veggies, grains, beans, eggs, meat) plus a weekly stipend for other staples."
Stipend: Depends on experience.
Housing: Apprentices committing to a full season stay in a beautiful timber frame/cordwood tiny house with access to a communal outdoor kitchen. Camping is available for shorter term volunteers. Couples are welcome.
