Our full time farm crew is the backbone of the farm. These positions are ideal for individuals who are hard working, don't mind getting dirty and enjoy being focused and effecient. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: greenhouse production, transplanting, tillage, cultivation, weeding and harvest, and cleaning and packing produce for a 250+ member CSA and farmers markets, and lead at one of the farmers market stands. This is a farm, and we all do the hard stuff.
Educational Opportunities: " It is important to know that this is an employment position for those geared towards good food and physical work. Experience comes from participating wholeheartedly in the daily grind, attending markets and gaining real world "flight time". Training the full time crew on farm operations is a top priority. Conversations along the way about the what's and why's of farming is encouraged. "
Skills Desired: " Previous experience in farming is preferred but not required. Required are a positive attitude, a good work ethic, the ability to communicate clearly and to adapt. Manual labor experience is valuable. Although there is a great variation in farming, many tasks are monotonous and physically demanding. We often spend a lot of time on our knees weeding, or lifting and walking with heavy bins of produce. A current drivers license and clean driving record are preferred. "
Meals: "Vegetables and eggs from the farm, when available, are free of charge for employees personal use. Some basic staples are provided (rice, beans, oats). Crew members are responsible for cooking their own meals."

The year end bonus is 5% of our farmers market sales divided between the 3 full time crew. Full time crew members returning for a 2nd season receive $2200 monthly pay. The hourly breakdown for the salaries for 1st and 2nd year crew members are approximately $9 and $12/hr respectively reflecting a 45-50 hr work week. This is not including the value of accommodations. There are no deductions from pay other than state and federal taxes, medicare and social security. "
Housing: "Housing is provided during employment on the farm. Full time crew share a house in the town of Frederic, 3 miles from the farm. This house is modern and comfortable. It is close to the library, biking trails, park, hiking and DT Frederic. Each employee has a private room. The house has 2 bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. Crew members will be responsible for keeping the house clean and doing yard work.
