General Farm Description: "First Rain Farm job offering: This is not an internship. First Rain Farm is a diverse, small-scale certified organic farm located in the Sierra Nevada foothills just outside of Nevada City, CA. On the farm we produce vegetables, vegetable seed, fruit, and culinary and medicinal herbs. In addition to the things we grow, we also raise Nubian dairy goats as part of our herd-share program. We grow crops on just over three acres, surrounded by 34 acres of pasture and mixed coniferous forest just two miles from town. We currently sell at two local farmer?s markets, restaurants and grocery stores. First Rain Farm is seeking to fill the following position: We?re hiring a third member of our crew. This position will be working in most aspects of the farm, including greenhouse propagation, transplanting, irrigation, harvesting, weeding, farmer?s market, etc. The ideal applicant would have experience working in a group setting, good communication skills, and be self-motivated and flexible. The ability to lift 50 pounds and maintain a good pace of work is a requirement. At least one year of previous farm experience is required.
