Internship information
General Farm Description: "Fouch Farms is a 1500 acre operation located in Mariposa County, in the beautiful foothills of Central California, 30 minutes from Yosemite National Park. The family run operation specializes in holistic, natural, progressive, and sustainable farming. We don't try to change the environment through chemicals and heavy machinery, but rather use livestock and sound management practices to produce gorgeous landscapes, productive fields, and savory products.

Fouch Farms is a multi-species operation with cattle, pigs, goats, chickens. We practice organic methods and are certified humane and grass-fed by AGW. We are currently becoming certified organic. We are a husband and wife team, with four young children, and have over 15+ years experience in sustainable farming. "

Internship Details:

“We are moving from our current home to our new home and would like to place a farmer in our old home. The home is in the middle of a 320ac ranch and has several ponds, a 4ac lake, several barns, a shop, a milk shed, garden areas, and two hoop houses. We are going to be focusing on our beef and hay business and would like someone, a couple, or a family to pick up one or all of our other enterprises. We have run a market garden, pastured pigs, pastured poultry, and sheep/goats in the past. We are open to other operations as well as long as they don’t compete with our beef business. You would be running your own operation, and we can work together as much or as little as you would like. We have a good customer base, and could help market your products.”

Educational Opportunities: Mentorship.

Skills Desired: Some experience in operation you will be pursuing.

Meals: Large garden area. Grass-fed beef avail at discount. Availability of a milk cow.

Stipend: Cost of home rental is $800 per month. Land lease of acreage around the home is negotiable. Some day work during haying season is available at $120 per day. A 5% sales commission is available if you would like to help us market our beef.

Housing: 2bed/1bath 1000sqft home.
