Internship information
General Farm Description: "Groundswell Farm is a production based urban organic farm. We cultivate 4 urban plots in santa cruz, from the upper westside to live oak. We will be cultivating 6+ acres next season and sell at 5 farmers markets throughout the bay area. We specialize in dry farm and cherry tomatoes, hot and sweet specialty peppers, beans, onions, winter squash and some seasonal greens. Living in santa cruz and working on a small farm is a worthy experience. We have a very solid production manager, hire seasonal labor for what seems like endless harvesting, and have a fantastic market crew of 2-3. Our labor situation is constantly evolving along with our farm, finding a solid assistant/protege for our production manager is our objective. Amount of hours, compensation, specific responsibilities are TBD based upon applicants skill set and motivation. Minimum 20 hours a week. The work is often repetitive and difficult, farming is not gardening. We have been growing these crops for 9 years and have a pretty dialed system, that being said farming is an ongoing experiment and we are always learning and experimenting! Groundswell Farm is a rather unique opportunity, farming and being surrounded by beautiful Santa Cruz "
