General Farm Description: "Jodar Farms is looking to bring on energetic farm hands to help with daily chores associated with raising pastured chickens and hogs. Looking for folks who are able to commit to 8-12 months at a time. Farm hands have the opportunity to learn all aspects of feeding, watering, moving, cleaning and slaughtering of animals on farm. In addition, farmers markets and csa pickup help is required of all farm hands. Work can often be in adverse conditions which requires strong willed employees. On farm housing is available after an initial work period is completed. Jodar Farms is looking to find employees who want to work into supervisory positions after 8-12 months of training. Internship Details:

“Jodar Farms is currently looking to add 1-2 people to work through the Summer, Fall and have Winter work as well. The farm is looking to bring on folks who are excited to learn about livestock raising and move into management positions. Part/Time- Full/Time shifts available. Farmers market shifts will also be available for proper candidate. On farm housing is possible for the right candidate after trial work period complete.
We are looking for a hard working individual who is not afraid to get dirty working with chickens and pigs. Ideal candidate will need to have an open schedule (weekend and evening availability is a must) and be able to handle strenuous physical labor in sometimes difficult working conditions. All work is outdoors so proper work attire is required (boots, gloves, hats, etc.). Primary job duties will be feeding, watering, and general care of chickens and pigs, collecting eggs, changing bedding, mucking pens, general maintenance, chicken slaughter, packaging and some customer service.”


Educational Opportunities: Pasture based models for raising chickens (meat and egg layers) and hogs. On farm slaughter of chicken and other poultry using USDA regulations and HAACP plans.

Skills Desired: "Previous experience with livestock, especially pasture based models, is preferred but not required. General farm experience is desired. Other qualifications for position are listed below: -Must be reliable and on time to shifts -Have reliable transportation -Good attitude -Work well with others and independently -Able to lift heavy weight throughout the shift -Willing to learn -Interested in Small scale agriculture -Able to pass a background check"

Meals: Weekly Meat and Egg Shares.

Stipend: Pay is hourly and determined based on experience and length of commitment.

Housing: On farm housing available after 3 month work trial period. Housing will be deducted from pay and reported as income for tax purposes.
