Internship information
General Farm Description: We are a small family farm in Sonoma County. We operate a micro-dairy of Organic Jersey and Guernsey Cows. We have around 100 egg layers. We process over 100 meat birds a year and raise heritage pigs and beef cattle. We make cheese and butter. We are actively brewing kombucha and cider at our farm. We also provide a great variety of fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables. Our farm is an active proponent of the food freedom movement and localized food systems.

Internship Details:

“Interns will be working along side our family. Chores will include milking, gardening, feeding, canning, building chicken tractors, building a farm stay cabin, fencing, building egg mobiles, delivering, and general day to day farming.”


Educational Opportunities: "Interns will learn about operating an artisan dairy. This will include caring for milk cows, feeding, milking, and making cheese, butter and other milk products. Interns will learn about organic egg production, processing meat birds, and organic gardening skills. Interns can also learn to make biodiesel to power the farm equipment and delivery trucks. Above all, you will have a chance to experience life on a small diverse farm. <br><br> When you finish your stay at our farm you will have the template and tools to start your own farm if you so desire. We really want to grow new farmers!"

Skills Desired: "We only ask that our interns have a strong desire to learn and are willing to work hard. Again this is very hard work with long hours so please only apply if you can commit to this lifestyle. We only want highly motivated committed individuals with a strong work ethic and a good attitude. This our family home so only quiet, respectful, non-smokers need apply. Background checks will be made and you must have a valid drivers license. Experience in the field is a plus but not required."

Meals: "We have an outdoor kitchen and share meals. Seasonal food will be provided from the farm. Fresh milk, eggs, cheeses, beef and pork, and garden fresh vegetables and fruits are plentiful when in season. Our interns eat organic food, much of which comes from our farm."

Stipend: $150 per week. Our farm has an entrepreneurial spirit and there are opportunities to earn more for motivated interns.

Housing: Simple private housing is provided with a shared shower and laundry facility.
