General Farm Description: "Beautiful and historic 135 acre Hudson Valley Farm specializing in grass fed lamb, free range pork, eggs, and organically grown vegetables and fruits. Our farm is family owned and enjoys loyal relationships with its CSA, farmers market, and restaurant customers. We also maintain a road-side store for our local community. Due to the farm's locale, there are many opportunities to interact with other local farmers and benefit from an active CRAFT program in the area. "

Internship Details:

“Primary responsibility will be to assist in the full range of vegetables/fruit production: propagation, soil prep, irrigation mgmt, planting, pest/disease management, harvesting, marketing. There will be ample opportunity to learn how to use farm equipment/implements including tractor work with a bed shaper, cultivation tools, plastic/drip tape layers, spraying equipment.

Secondarily, there could also be opportunities to help with general farm work and with our livestock farmer on specific tasks.

Must be willing to work a minimum of 40-50 hours per week.

An attractive housing option is also available.”


Educational Opportunities: "Opportunity to work on a diversified farm and to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of vegetable production and marketing. You will work closely with the farm's owner who is eager to share his years of experience and to encourage and help aspiring young farmers to pursue their passion. For those interested in a longer term farming career and with exceptional work ethic/skills, there could be opportunity to return to the farm in subsequent years with significantly broadened responsibility."

Skills Desired: "Prefer at least some prior experience working on a vegetable farm, but not essential. A strong desire to learn and a disciplined work ethic are paramount (must be willing to work in all weather conditions). Must have an easy going congenial personality. "

Meals: Housing includes a full kitchen. Produce from farm for meals is included.

Stipend: "$1500/month, without housing $1000/month, if housing option is included"

Housing: Beautiful modern 1 bedroom apartment is available on the farm. The apartment is private and includes a full kitchen and washer/dryer.
