General Farm Description: "Our farm is located in Anderson Valley, Northern California. It is a small scale family operation with a focus on our biodynamic apple orchards, annual gardens, landscaping, homestead-scale livestock, and an on-site farm stand featuring our fruit and value added products. Agritourism is another important facet of our business. We host guests on-site in our cabins, hold occasional cooking classes featuring food from our farm, and other special events such as weddings and farm dinners. "

Internship Details:

“There are two different positions we wish to fill this season, with some inevitable cross-over between the two. The first is a livestock and orchard focused position, the second is farm stand management and garden assistant. Educational Opportunities: "Opportunity to learn biodynamic orchard practices, value added product production, kitchen-garden, small scale animal husbandry (chickens, goats, pigs), agri-tourism, farmers market"

Skills Desired: "Strong, smart, good with hands, willing to learn, positive attitude, ability to process information, and willing to work both independently and with a group. Lots of opportunities for self-motivated learners. It is necessary to have had 1-2 seasons of prior experience in farming and to be able to provide references."

Meals: "Many staples and garden products available to cook with, some shared meals with staff and family"

Stipend: Minimum wage for 30-40 hours per week in early spring to 50+ hours per week during fall harvest . Room and board is subtracted from your paycheck amounting to around $450 per month. People who are willing to live mostly off the farm are usually able to save money during their time here.

Housing: "A small cabin and handmade gypsy wagons in the orchard by the river with simple outdoor kitchen, hot shower, and outhouse. Access to laundry."
