Internship information
General Farm Description: We are a small sustainable farm intentionally practicing biodynamic and organic. We have a small herd of Nubian Dairy goats. Currently milking 9 goats. We make a simple chevre and sell raw goats milk. We would like to expand our cheese making. We sell goat meat, lamb and chicken. We pasture 15 goats and 20 sheep on other parcels of land and rotate every 5-7 days through the late spring and summer. The chickens are raised in chicken tractors and we grow 50 at a time but up to 200 birds for the season. In addition to Animals husbandry we have a 30x73 foot high tunnel that we grow vegetable. We sell through an on-line store and participate in 2-3 market through out the summer.

Internship Details:

We are looking to hire someone to be an assistant herd manager. Enthusiastic about learning to milk, hoof trimming, animal health checks and all aspects of animals husbandry. Processing the milk into cheese and bottling for sales. Rotating the animals in the fields. Moving animals from one location to another via a trailer. Setting up fencing and taking down fencing for pasture rotation. Feeding and watering the chickens. Cleaning eggs and boxing. Feeding and moving meat birds 2x a day. Morning and evening milking. . Assist with farmer markets. Loading truck and unloading. Lifting 50 lb grain bags. Weeding and watering vegetables. 5 day on ,2 days off. Must be passionate about animals and have some prior experience working in the great outdoors. Physical hard work and learning opportunity. Motivated individual need only apply. Motivated to learn, do grunt work and have unconditional love for animals and the land. Thinking outside of the box is always welcomed. Diversity is our mantra. We love to farm and we need the physical help with projects that we can not do alone.


Educational Opportunities: Goat, sheep and chicken husbandry. Running a small raw milk dairy. Making cheese and value added products. Land management and biodynamic principles.

Skills Desired: Prior experience working outside. Able to take on challenges and work independently. Work in all types of weather. Willing to take on new challenges and open to direction.

Meals: Food is available from the farm. kitchen access in our home.

Stipend: Stipend of $250 a week.

Housing: Tent camping to start with use of kitchen, washing machine,, bathroom and shower. Planning to build a tiny home . Intern can assist with the project.
