General Farm Description: Glenn Scott Farm is a new organic produce farm that works directly with our sister restaurant, The Park Inn, (www.parkinnflx.com) to supply produce. We will be expanding in 2020 and are looking to add a seasonal, full time Farm Hand to our crew.

Employment Details:

Seasonal full time hourly position (March-Nov) with potential for full time year round.
1 month probation period starting at day of hire.
Two person crew for this year.
Typical shift will be 8 hours, with occasional variations depending on season and weather.

Among Your Responsibilities:

A typical day will include (but not limited to) any of the following:
Harvesting produce
Washing and packaging produce
Weeding by hand or with tools
Seeding / maintaining plants in the Green house
Transplanting
Maintaining infrastructure (High tunnel, deer fencing, irrigation, etc.)
Delivering to restaurants
Applying amendments (compost, fish emulsion, etc)
Covering plots with tarps and anchoring with sand bags

Skills Desired: Profile of the Ideal Applicant: Good position for a self starter - someone who is looking to learn more farm skills. At least 1-2 years organic produce farming experience preferred. Must have a driver’s license. Some tractor experience preferred. Willing to work in variable weather conditions. Ease of working alone or in a team. Someone who pays attention to details - notices struggling plants and will deduce what is wrong and take action. Ex: Little holes in the kale - getting eaten by flea beetles - must spray then cover with insect netting. Good attitude, doesn’t mind some long hard days and will help keep things moving if the farm manager is busy preparing a farm dinner or teaching a class. Willing to communicate in a healthy and positive way. The work will be demanding both physically and mentally. Although we will never push our employees beyond their limits, we expect full dedication from our team. Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Willing to work outside, and in inclement weather. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to bend, crouch, squat, reach, and work with hands.

Meals: One lunch per work day from our restaurant is available.

Stipend: We offer $13/hour and produce to take home.

Housing: No.
